These are three steps to find custom report in Google analytics.
- Step 1. Login with your Google Analytics account
- Step 2. Click on “Customization” from Left sidebar menu and then click on “Custom Reports”.

- Step 3. Click on new custom report button.
So here you can see your all custom Google Analytics Reports
Let’s see all four options, how they work.
New Category (1) – You can categorize your reports using New Category option. It helps to manage your all reports.
Click on “+ New Category” and type the category name.
Here is an example how you can categorize your custom reports.
Import from Gallery (2) – Here you can find thousands of pre made reports. Just search your report and import it into your Google analytics account. These reports are shared by experts and provide very important insights for website owners.
Action (3) – You can copy, edit, share and delete your report from here.
New Custom Report (4) – Here you can create new custom Google analytics report and I will explain you in this blog how to create custom reports on which dimensions and metrics.
When you click on “+ New Custom Report” then this form will open.
How to Make Custom Google Analytics Report
In the above image 7 sections are there. Let’s have a look how these options work.
1. Title – You can select here Report name, suppose you are making landing page report so you can type “Landing Page Report” in the Title section. It will show on the top of the report.

So it can help you to find your report easily from the custom report section.
2. Report Tab & Name – in Report Content section by default name is Report Tab and you can change it according to your choice. Let’s see an example.

You can also add more tabs
Second tab goes here, so you don’t need to make more new reports separately. You can add here multiple reports.
3. Type – Google Analytics provide three option for users – Graph, Table & Map so you can make report as you want or as you require.
Explorer – It shows Graph and Table section both. You can add multiple dimensions and metrics here.
Explorer report is generally used by expert and this is standard reporting format in google analytics. You can set up next level dimensions and when you click on the main dimension, you can see your next level dimension. Let’s see it in an example. Here main dimension is source and next level dimension is medium. When you will click on the source, it will show you next level dimension means medium report respect to clicked source.
So here you can see graph and table both section.
Flat Table – It only shows Table section. You also can add here multiple dimensions and metrics.
Here you can’t setup dimension as a next level. You can setup dimension as a secondary dimension. The report will look like this…
Map Overlay – It shows map and table both, you can add only one metric and four dimensions. This report will tell you about user engagement by different locations.
You can create 4 types map in this section – World, Continent, Subcontinent and Country. Select your map from zoom level section.

4. Metric Groups –You can set measurements respect to dimensions in this section, some important metrics are here…
- Sessions (Visits)
- Users (Visitors)
- Bounce Rate
- % Exit (Exit Rate)

- Avg. page load time (sec)

5. Dimension Drilldowns – Set here dimensions which you want to analyze in a website. Here are some important dimensions…
